"The arts mean business," declared Wolf Trap
President Terrence Jones at the Mar. 26 Luncheon. Jones said the "not-for-profit
arts industry in metropolitan Washington plays a key role in the regional
economy, generating almost $1.4 billion in direct expenditures, and
nearly 29,000 full time jobs." He said Wolf Trap, America's only
national park for the performing arts, has been a leader in education
for decades and has "directly served more than two million children
by using the arts to teach early learning skills." Jones said Wolf
Trap's schedule this season includes, "Some Like It Hot",
featuring veteran actor Tony Curtis, who also starred in the movie version
in 1957 with Jack Lemon and Marilyn Monroe. In the movie, Curtis said,
he and Lemon "were dressed up as girls." Curtis claims a famous
dress designer who measured the three stars told Marilyn, "You
know, Tony Curtis has a better looking 'posterior' than you."
