Jeffrey Spolan's
on the set...
Secret Service Man
In the meantime:
Yesterday I was playing a Secret Service Agent
complete with Ban-Rays
dark blue suit
and shiny shoes

outside of Yankee Stadium at 11 a.m.
in the morning...

Over a hundred extras
were costumed
as priests, nuns, monks
[the Catholic School girls in uniform were real:
they were bussed in from Staten Island]

for the benefit of Andy Garcia
who is producing and starring in something to be called:

Piece of Cake.

The scene was:
All these people arrive at the stadium
to welcome
The Pope
and Garcia is trying to make money
as a ticket scalper...

He is in drag
dressed like a nun
and
being perused by two security cops
through a throng
of Papal well wishers
with signs
and Pope Placards...

Three little carts were constructed
and placed along side the stadium
selling
merchandise
like
plastic bottles for drinking water
with the Pop's face pasted on it
Papal tee shirts with the Pope's face plastered on it
and plaster busts of the Pope's Head.

I spent part of the day
getting to know the crew
and especially the
property guys
who put this cart and pseudo-merchandise together.
I was impressed
with it's tackiness
they were gracious
and we all laughed a lot.

During the actual chase
you may or may not
see me in the film

but every so often
I would stand by one of the carts
dressed in my Secret Service finery
and shout out:
"POPE HEADS! GET YER POPE HEADS."

Civilians
on their way to the REAL
event of the day
at the Stadium
a game between the Yankees and the Mets
got right into the action...

and many were unaware
a film was being shot.
Some thought the Pope WAS actually coming
to Bless the game
also
I encouraged some that this was true
and discouraged others
by telling them it was not true.

I lied to a reporter from the NY Times
who came up to me
thinking I was a legit
authority figure

{it was the shapes of moi suit and choice of
sunglasses...}

I chased a camera crew
from local Channel 9 NY News
off the set

I answered people's questions
as they sought me out in the crowd
who wanted to know what Gate they
should enter to see the ballgame

{First I made them show me their tickets
then I helped them}

Other people I just told them I was an actor
and
answered questions about what was going on...

I was a General in Charge of Mayhem!

As far as the "look" of my activities
on camera
IF
any of this winds up on camera for the film
it will appear I am
just doing my job.

Civilians and even a few
actors
asked if I was a
"Security officer"

I told them:

" I felt secure...
and that's all that really matters."

This indeed was my behavior
on the set.

{see: if they are insecure and they want to get some security from someone else - the humanitarian thing to do is to help them...I figured.}

Acting is believing etc.

Good information
for future
Performing Arts types...

For $99 plus lunch
Andy got a good day's work from me.

Jeffrey Spolan is an Actor, he is NOT a Secret Service Agent.
