Prof. Spolan had recently received the following press release:

SOME GUIDANCE COUNSELORS ARE GIVING BETTER ADVICE THAN THEY THINK.

What do you say to a young person with potential who's not interested in college at the moment?
And not sure what he or she wants to do?
Many guidance counselors suggest or recommend the Army.
Some, because of the skill- training opportunities.
Others, because the Army can help a young person build self- confidence and mature.

Both good reasons.

But many guidance counselors are not up-to-date on the Army Continuing Education System.
And what it has to offer a young person with potential.

Many are not aware that it is a system that includes Education Centers
and Educational Counselors, with degrees in education, at every major Army post.

Many are not aware that it is a system that includes over 400 colleges, paid tuition (up to 75%) for approved courses taken off duty, and an Apprenticeship Program approved by the Department of Labor.

Many are not aware that it is a system that can help a soldier accumulate an education fund for college or vo-tec school.

If you'd like to be a guidance counselor who's up-to-date on Army educational opportunities, write:
